IBC THANKSGIVING SERVICE 2009
IBC Summer Music Workshop ‘09
Music is a wonderful language of the whole universe. It is a strong and yet stylish medium of conveying one’s message to others. It can be used as a powerful weapon to capture one’s heart, to redirect one’s way of thinking, and even liberate one’s troubled soul.
Cognizant of the vital role played by music, the Ilagan Baptist Church conducted a free Music Workshop on May 25-30 with the objectives: to strengthen the music ministry of the church; to help people especially the young generation discover and enhance their talents for God and the ministry; and to encourage them to have deep appreciation and interest for spiritual and God-glorifying music.
We thank God for using 8 young people from IBC and 2 from La Loma Baptist Church who taught how to play different musical instruments to the 66 delegates from 10 Baptist churches in Region 2.
Highlighting the workshop was the Recital ’09 held on the last day wherein the participants exhibited their learned skills by rendering special numbers.
Praise God for blessing this worthwhile and fruitful summer activity.
IBC 21st Anniversary
IBC 21st Anniversary
“… for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.” (Neh. 6:16)
Our hearts were thankful and rejoicing as we celebrated 21 years of God’s blessings and faithfulness to Ilagan Baptist Church last May 3 with the theme “The Work Of God”. As we looked back at our humble beginning and recapped the countless blessings and wonderful accomplishments year by year, we can truly say that undoubtedly, the ministry of IBC is the awesome work of God, done for His glory and accomplished by His great power. Through the years, God has been faithful: consistently and sufficiently providing all our needs; directing and guiding our steps; giving us strength and victories, and many opportunities to be used as a vessel to proclaim His Word and to demonstrate His mighty acts and power.
As we move onward facing new opportunities and many challenges ahead, we will continue to trust Him Who has been and always be the great source of our everything.
“This is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes.” (Psalms 118:23)
IBC World Missions Conference 2009 March 3-8
Tell The World That Jesus Saves
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)
“Tell The World That Jesus Saves” was the 2009 theme of the IBC World Missions Conference held on March 3-8 with Pastor Selva of Lighthouse Baptist Church, Singapore, and Pastor Gilbert Toquero of La Loma Baptist Church, Quezon City as special guest speakers. The Services during the conference were filled with inspiring and substantial messages which gave emphasis on the kind of faith believers should possess and how to safeguard that faith, and the strength that the church needs in order to effectively tell the lost and dying world that Jesus saves.
The conference was well supported by more than 70 faithful pastors, and local and foreign missionaries who gave testimonies to challenge churches to have wider vision concerning mission and to get involved in world evangelization. It was also attended by church workers and members from other Baptist Churches in Region 2.
We thank God for allowing us to be used as a vessel to promote and encourage others to fulfil the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ, and for blessing this significant event with great success. We give God all the praise and glory!
“Then Jesus came” IBC CHRISTMAS CANTATA ‘08 The IBC Choir and Mini Orchestra, in special participation with the La Loma Baptist Church (LBC) Orchestra and drama cast, performed a majestic, soul-stirring Christmas musical and drama program entitled “Then Jesus Came” on December 22, 2008 at 5:00 in the afternoon. ”Then Jesus Came”, composed by Ron and Shelley Hamilton, beautifully portrays the peace and joy a person could have from freedom from the shackles of sin when Christ is born in his heart, and the significant difference that Christ could bring to his life. Pastor Gilbert Toquero of LBC delivered a powerful message on the love of God and salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the reason for this Christmas season. We praise the Lord for the many souls that were brought to Him through this God-glorifying activity.
IBC Tract Ministry
The IBC Gospel Tract No. 3 entitled “Apagbiit A Biag” has been launched on November 23, 2008 in Ilagan Baptist Church. This ministry is in line with our mission to spread the Word in order to reach the world for Christ.
“Apagbiit A Biag”, meaning Short Life, is a tract written in Ilocano dialect designed to reach the Ilocano speaking people with the Gospel of Christ. Life is indeed so short, as stated in 1 Peter 1:24-25, and man has to know his vital need, that is the salvation of his soul through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. God’s simple plan of salvation is clearly presented in this beautiful Gospel tract.
We have been entrusted with the truth and given ample opportunities to spread it. By all means, and with God’s help, we will spread it that the whole world may know that “Jesus Saves”.
FAMILY LIFE SEMINAR 2008 (Ephesians 5:21-33) Guest Speaker: Rev. Salvador de la Cruz A healthy and biblically sound marriage is one of the foundations of a strong and growing church that can be a great influence in reaching others for Christ. With this principle in mind, the Ilagan Baptist Church conducted the Family Life Seminar ’08 on October 11 with the theme “Building the Most of Your Marriage”. Our guest speaker, Pastor Salvador de la Cruz of International Baptist Bible Church in Reseda, California, lectured on the various aspects of maintaining a healthy, joyful marriage and family relationship based on biblical principles as designed by God. He elaborated on the subjects of the Six Elements of a Strong Marriage, and the Top Ten Marriage Killers. The benefits from the lessons learned at the seminar will surely help married couples to effectively minister to their spouse, family and friends.
Other Baptist Churches in Isabela had the opportunity to join in the blessings of the one-day seminar.
Once again, the Name of the Lord was glorified. Praise God for its good success!
To God Be The Glory Great Things He Hath Done
IBC 20th ANNIVERSARY
“It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22, 23)
Praise God for the success of IBC 20th Anniversary celebration held on May 4, 2008 with the theme “GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS”. It was indeed a celebration of God’s great faithfulness to Ilagan Baptist Church: for His awesome working in our midst; for His loving kindness; His special provision and protection; for the strength and victories; for the wonderful privilege to be used to reach the world with the Gospel; and for all the countless blessing He has graciously and generously bestowed upon us to enjoy. His abiding presence and sufficient grace have been our comfort and strength. We express our thankfulness and praise to Him for all the benefits He has given us these 20 years of IBC’s existence.
With one heart and spirit, we will continue to face the challenges and endeavor to reach our goals for the glory of God, looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.
