The Church That Is Being Blest By The Lord

Text: Acts 2:41-47 IBCSS IBC 19^th Anniversary May 6, 2007

The Local Church that is being blest by the Lord is a Church that teaches and preaches the Word of God with boldness and walks faithfully in the steps of the Lord. Truly, God bless ministries that are pleasing to Him. There is a need to pray for more Spirit-controlled ministries to proclaim the Gospel of Christ to the crooked and Christ-rejecting generation.

The devil is not happy to see Christian Churches growing and becoming stronger in the faith. He hates ministries that love the Truth and support world evangelization. The adversary is so crafty and has various ways to disturb and divert churches from their God-given purpose, especially during Church anniversaries, Revival Weeks, Missions Conferences, Soul Winning Seminars and other big events that give honor and glory to God.

If Christians are not careful and mindful of their role, they will become easy victims of the devil. Their spiritual vision will be blurred and their direction will be manipulated according to his wicked plan. It is always safe to be in the center of God’s will because Christians who are obedient to God are assured of His special protection.

Compromising with the world is the trend of the time and many professing Christians are being led to their own downfall because they believe they will become better if they adopt the modern and deceitful philosophies of man. We know that God will bless a Local congregation that has godly leaders, workers and members who are unspotted from the world and are reliant on the Lord’s working at all times. God wants believers to stay pure and faithful to Him and He delights in rewarding them with many blessings.

As we study the Bible, may we take heed of the things God wants us to learn and apply them consistently so we may experience God’s marvelous working in our lives and ministries.

(I) The Church That Is Well-focused On The Things Of

God

Acts 2:41-42

-The Church that loves soul-winning

A Local Church that cares for lost souls will not only grow in number but also grow in love and grace. Mission-minded ministries are fast-growing because they are fulfilling the Great Commission and are empowered by the Holy Ghost.

-The Church that loves the Word of God

People who have special love for the Word of God will grow strong in their faith. As they set God-glorifying goals, they will be properly guided and directed, and will surely achieve extraordinary success because the Lord will bless the works of their hands.

-The Church that loves Christian fellowship

A Church with regular Christian fellowship will produce members who are loving and close to each other because fellowship deepens and strengthens friendship. Godly fellowship gives glory to God.

-The Church that loves to pray

Prayerful Church members are great strength builder. They are the kind of people whose lives could give great discomfort to the devil. A prayerful Local Church is a powerful and flourishing Church.

-The Church that loves praising God

Believers who love praising God are expressive people who enjoy giving glory to God rather than to be praised by men. Their hearts are for the Lord continually: they delight on talking about the Lord’s goodness; and they truly enjoy God’s favor because they please Him. Keep on praising the Lord. He alone is worthy to be praised.

-The Church that loves giving

A man who loves giving in the name of the Lord will always be remembered and will never be led to poverty. He will prosper in a great way because God will walk him through in the path of success. A Church that teaches and practices right giving will surely be blessed by God.

(II) The Church That Has United Members

Acts 2:44

-Unity is an amazing builder of unfailing strength

Many congregations could not accomplish great works for the Lord because they lack strength to do the works. Usually, the reason behind their failure is the strong disunity of members.

(III) The Church That Is Caring To Others

Acts 2:45

-A caring Church is a cure-giving Church

A caring Church is likened to a hospital that gives treatment to ailing patients. Spiritually speaking, God is using every caring Church in restoring people whose lives are being destroyed by spiritual illness.

-A caring Church is a knowledge-giving Church

A caring Church is also likened to a school that educates people so they will not remain in ignorance. She imparts spiritual knowledge and helps people to understand Bible principles so they may live by them in wisdom.

-A caring Church is an assistance-giving Church

A caring Church is always ready to extend assistance to those in need. She has members who are sensitive and responsive to the needs of others, and take pleasure in giving assistance in any form whether it be spiritual or material. The world is really in need of such Churches today.

(IV) The Church That Has Spiritual Consistency

Acts 2:46

-Spiritual consistency is the secret of strong and continuing Local Church

All believers desire to belong to a Local Church that is being blest by God significantly. However, for some believers, such longing remains a dream because of their indifference toward supporting ministry.

In Acts 2:47, it is written, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. (KJV) This verse implies how God truly blest the Local church in Jerusalem. Studying this passage without considering the preceding verses will leave us wondering how such congregation became a notable Local Church, but a careful study on verses 41-46 will reveal why the Church was so blest by God.

A Local Church whose members are consistent in their Church attendance, prayer life, love of the Word, giving, Christian fellowship and soul winning is unquestionably a strong congregation. The presence of God will be felt in their midst and they will surely obtain the loving-favor of God and enjoy His ever-flowing blessings.

Do you want our Church to be blest by the Lord continually? We must keep on supporting our ministry so our Local Church will always be a blessing to our families and our community.
