ILAGAN BIBLE INSTITUTE

The
history of Ilagan Bible Institute (IBI)dates back to the time when a
group of Bible school students graduated at La Loma Bible Institute. The
La Loma Bible Institute founded by Rev. Melvyn L. Brown, produced fine
Christian men and women most of whom are now in full time service to the
Lord as pastors and missionaries in different parts of
Luzon.
Among them are Pastor and Mrs. Jose B. Cabajar. By strong faith and
dedication to the Lord's work, and by the grace of God, the Ilagan
Baptist Church was established and formally organized in January 1989.
In November of 1990, the Ilagan Bible Institute (IBI) was started
which offered a three-year course leading to the Graduate of Theology
Degree with the primary purpose of training and developing students to
properly divide and communicate the Word of God, equipping them for the
ministry and other areas of Christian service. Along with this aim, the
Institute is dedicated to the task of developing the quality of
leadership that is much needed today.
The Ilagan Bible Institute (IBI) Officers include Rev. Jose B.
Cabajar as the President and Mrs. Maria Nelly A. Cabajar as the
Registrar.
In October of 1993, IBI produced the 1st batch of graduates who
successfully completed the requirements for the degree. Seven(7)
students graduated during the said year and from among the graduates,
one (1) pioneered a work in Cabarroguis, Quirino. He is now serving the
Lord as full time Pastor of Cabarroguis Baptist Church (CBC). In 1994,
three(3) students graduated and one (1) from that batch is serving as
IBC staff worker. Year 1995, IBI yielded three (3) graduates, and from
that batch, one (1) started a pioneering work in Maddela, Quirino. He is
now serving the Lord as full time Pastor of Maddela Baptist Church (MBC).
Seven (7) students graduated in 1996. There was no graduation rites in
1997 since no student qualified the requirements. In 1998, four (4)
graduated and one (1) presently serving the Lord as IBC staff worker. In
November of 2000, three (3) students graduated and one of them was led
to serve the Lord as part-time staff worker. We also had the ordination
of Pastor Privado Uy of CBC and Pastor Armando Reyes of MBC. Early this
year, Bro. Gomer Montereal, a 1998 graduate, started another mission
work in Nagtipunan, Quirino, together with an undergraduate student.
There was no graduation rite in 2001, but we are expecting a number of
students to graduate next year. The students, as well as the alumni are
actively involved in home and campus Bible studies, extension classes
and other Christian services to spread the good news of the Lord.
Souls are crying and dying. The fields are ripe unto harvest but the
laborers are few. The Lord is still patiently waiting for men and women
who will forsake all and serve Him. Let's keep on praying that more
Christians will take heart and heed the call of God to go to the regions
beyond where the story of Christ's love has never been told.
