Through the ages, fame, popularity, power and riches have been the main targets of human heart. Obviously, people think that attaining such coveted things are the measurements of good success. Earthly success seems to be the assurance of their desired security and credibility in this present life. They truly believe that having a high-profile position in life produces high impact on the lives of others. Influencing others is man’s well-desired mission because of its undeniable benefits, and usually, it’s for his personal advantage.

Undoubtedly, Christians have the capacity to produce high-impact influence on others’ lives not because they are bigwigs of our time, but because God the Almighty is on their side. What a discriminating privilege for a man if God is working in his life. The saying is true that little is much when God is in it.

The Bible account of the lad in John 6:9 gives us an assurance that God can do something extraordinary out of insignificant things. The verse says, “There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?”

There are times when some believers feel they are insignificant among impressive people that they tend to avoid involving themselves in great works thinking they cannot contribute anything. Such philosophy should not be embraced by the people of God because God could use ordinary people to accomplish an extraordinary mission.

As we take note of the different attitudes of the early disciples of Christ toward the feeding of the multitudes, the lad’s entry to such impossible feeding activity could surely touch our awareness of God’s miraculous working through the lives of those who really want to get involved in the work of the Lord.

(I)            The Secret Of High-impact Involvement

John 6:1-14

-Selflessness

Selfishness drowns a man into the depth of greediness, but selflessness can save a dying soul from the threat of death. Behind selflessness is caring attitude toward the needy. It’s a beneficial attitude of a believer triggered by his love for the Lord. Such character was well-illustrated by the lad who shared to others what he had.

-Faith in the Lord

Steps of faith lead a believer to unbelievable level of success. A professing Christian who walks by sight will surely be bothered by what he sees, but a man who puts his faith in the Lord and walk with Him will experience God’s mighty power in his life.

In John 6:10-11, it is written, And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. (KJV) However insignificant our lives or our contributions may seem, if we offer them by faith to the Lord, God will surely make a way so we may realize that faith in Him could truly produce miracles.

-The power of God

The power of God is undeniably beyond the boundaries of limitations. We truly believe that if we are willing to share to others what we have for God’s glory, the Lord will surely use our lives to inspire others to put their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

In John 6:12-14, it is written, When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. (KJV)

How wonderful it would be if every one of us will experience high-impact involvement this year and beyond. Just imagine how many people will be blessed if we live selflessly, walk by faith and let the power of God be manifested through our lives. Obey the blessed will of God and be a blessing to countless people across the world.
